Ingredients
- 200g fish cake slices
- 3 garlic cloves
- 1 spring onion
- 1/2 white onion
- 2tbsp gochujang
- 1tbsp toasted sesame oil
- 1tbsp caster sugar
- 1tbsp vegetable oil
- 1tbsp toasted sesame seeds
Step by Step Instructions
.Step 1
Prepare the fish cakes. We used half a pack of store-brought frozen fish cakes- and simply defrosted them on the counter prior to use. This took around an hour or so. Once defrosted, slice into bite-sized pieces. Then, thinly slice the onion, roughly dice the garlic cloves, and slice the spring onion- this will be a garnish at the end.
Step 2
Toast the sesame seeds in a frying pan, over medium heat. You do not need to add any oil, but keep stirring the seeds for around 5 minutes, until they become golden. Once toasted, remove the seeds from the pan and set aside to cool.
Step 3
Heat up the vegetable oil in the same frying pan. When the oil is heated, add the fish cake slices and stir for several minutes.
Step 4
Whilst the fish cake slices are cooking, in a bowl mix together the garlic cloves, sugar and gochujang. Then add the onion slices to the frying pan, as well as the garlic, sugar and gochujang mixture, and mix everything well, frying for several more minutes. Make sure everything is well covered in the gochujang mixture.
Step 5
Remove from the heat. Transfer into a serving bowl, add the sesame oil, the toasted sesame seeds and the spring onion. Mix well. Enjoy!
