A delicious combination of soft tofu and bit of spice

Ingredients

  • 400g firm tofu
  • 2 eggs
  • 4tbsp plain flour
  • 4tbsp light soy sauce
  • 2tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1tbsp gochugaru
  • 1tbsp sesame oil
  • 1tbsp sesame seeds
  • 2 spring onions
  • salt and pepper to taste

We served this as a side dish between 4 people, however it can also be served on its own with rice for two people.

Step by Step Instructions

Step 1

First, chop the spring onion and set aside. Then, prepare the sauce: in a small bowl mix the gochugaru, soy sauce, sesame seeds with 1tbsp water.

Step 2

Next, prepare the tofu. Slice the block into smaller slices, around 1-1.5cm thick. Place onto a paper towel, then place another paper towel on top and press down slightly to dry the tofu pieces.

Step 3

Add salt and pepper to the tofu slices.

Crack the two eggs into another bowl, and whisk. Add the spring onion to the bowl with the gochugaru mix.  Set both bowls aside.

Step 4

Heat the oil in a pan. Once the oil is hot, dip each tofu slice in the flour, then the egg mixture. Cook each slice for around 5-10 minutes, until a bit crispy on both sides. This should take around 5-10 min on medium heat.

Step 5

Once the tofu is golden on both sides, remove from the pan and plate the tofu slices.

Step 6

Finally, pour the gochugaru sauce over the slices. Enjoy!
