A great option for a side dish, very quick and easy to put together. Also, rather healthy!

Ingredients
- 1 medium-sized cabbage (around 550g)
- 3 spring onions
- 3tbsp dried shrimps
- 3tbsp sweet soy sauce
- 2tbsp vegetable oil
- 1tbsp roasted sesame seeds (optional, to garnish)
We used pointed cabbage in this recipe, however this recipe would also work well with savoy cabbage or Chinese cabbage. We served this as a side dish with a number of other Chinese dishes- such as beef and peppers in black bean sauce and mapo tofu, and some rice of course!
This recipe uses vegetable oil, but this can be substituted with lard for a bit of extra flavour.
Step by Step Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare the cabbage: remove the thick stems, and finely shred. Set aside.
Step 2
Next, prepare the spring onions: cut into quarters, then cut each into thin strips, then also set aside.
Step 3
Add one tablespoon of oil to a pan on medium-high heat, then fry the dried shrimp until golden, for around 5 minutes. Remove the shrimp from the heat and set aside.
Step 4
Add the remaining oil into the pan, then add the cabbage and cook on medium heat- be careful to not burn the cabbage.
Step 5
After around 5-10 minutes, the cabbage should be cooked, and should have reduced in size. Add the shrimps back into the pan, then add the sweet soy sauce. Mix everything well together.
Step 6
Finally, add the sliced spring onions to the pan, and cook for a further 3-5 minutes.
Step 7
The dish is then ready to serve. Scatter over the sesame seeds (if using). Enjoy!
