Ingredients
- 5 pears
- 200g plain chocolate
- 25g caster sugar
- 20g butter
- 2tbsp whisky or brandy (optional)
The alcohol in this dish is completely optional- it just adds a bit of extra flavour to the sauce.
Step by Step Instructions
Step 1
First, preheat the oven to 160 degrees C (325 degrees F).
Next, prep the pears for the dish. Peel the pears, then halve and remove the cores.
Step 2
Sprinkle half of the sugar into an oven dish, then place all of the prepared pears on top, and sprinkle over the remaining sugar. Bake the pears for 15 minutes.
Step 3
Meanwhile, prepare the chocolate sauce: break the chocolate into pieces. Place the chocolate and the butter into a heatproof bowl, and over a bain-marie (a pan of simmering water).
Step 6
Stir occasionally as the chocolate melts. If using alcohol, add this in at this point and stir well.
Step 7
The dish is now ready to put together.
Place the baked pears into ramekins (or your serving dish), and pour over the molten chocolate sauce. Enjoy!
